Job Costing Blind Spots

The problem: A general contractor was pricing jobs by “gut feel.” Some bids landed, but he never knew if they were winners or losers until months later. Turned out one framing job barely broke even and another reno lost money once labor and subs were counted.

The fix: We pulled actual payroll and supplier invoices into a simple job-costing template. The owner can now see true labor, material, and sub costs before quoting the next job. Instead of guessing, he’s bidding with real numbers — and padding in the right margin so each project pays.
